Baisakhi Mela 2012

Baisakhi Festival is celebrated as the Sikh New Year and the founding of the Khalsa Panth. History of Baisakhi traces its origin from the Baisakhi Day celebrations of 1699 organized by the Tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh to form Khalsa - Brotherhood of Saint Soldiers to fight against tyranny and oppression. Joyful festival of Baisakhi is celebrated with lot of charm in the vibrant state of Punjab. People perform set Baisakhi customs and traditions for the day with sincerity and devotion. As a harvest festival Baisakhi is celebrated in open fields with energetic bhangra and gidda dance by happily dressed men and women of Punjab

 

 Event Brief:-  

 

This year we have planned 1st Baisakhi Mela  on Saturday April 14, 2011 at Garden State Exhibit Center, Somerset, NJ for one full day (12 noon to 12 midnite) and are expecting over 100 vendors and over 10,000 audiences. We strive to bring the flavor of Baisakhi celebrations and create an ambience of festivities on this particular day. The idea is to provide an opportunity to the first generation Indians to remember Baisakhi festivities and bring together the younger generation to flaunt this beautiful festival while showcasing our rich Indian heritage and culture. Baisakhi Mela 2012 shall include celebrations throughout the day through cultural shows, display of Baisakhi festivities along with BOOTHS & VENDORS from various Corporate houses viz Airlines, Money Transfers, India Property Show, Media, Insurance, TV Channels, Phone Cards, Auto Sales, Mortgage Companies, Banks, Realtors, Tours, Cruises, Films, Entertainment and Local business houses like Boutiques, Jewelers, Fashion, Arts, Handicrafts, Gifts, Food, Mithais, Snacks, Mehendi, Photographers, DJs, Video, Decors and more. 

Baisakhi Mela 2012 shall also include fun filled entertainment throughout the day for people of all ages 5 to 75 years, professional entertainment and prominent elected officials from local townships and much more. Baisakhi Mela shall be advertised heavily through popular media and is expected to draw huge crowd as this is the ONLY Baisakhi Mela in NJ.
